Brighton’s Story

Lord, the one you love is sick.

John 11:3

Compatible with Life

Before birth, Brighton was diagnosed with a rare condition called bilateral renal agenesis, meaning that both of his kidney’s had failed to form. This condition directly affects a baby’s lung development as well because there is limited to no amniotic fluid. We were told that Brighton was “incompatible with life” and that his condition was 100% terminal with no survivors.

God had other plans. He directed us to do our own research and through that he led us to a community of other families with similar conditions. We found an experimental treatment only offered a few places and were able to start that treatment immediately. That treatment gave Brighton a chance at life by allowing his lungs to develop and he was able to breath on his own only a few days after birth.

After Brighton was born he had a very long medical journey that required him to be in the hospital for almost the entire first year of his life. This time was difficult but we also saw God’s faithfulness and witnessed miracle after miracle.

Today, Brighton is almost two years old and is expected to get his mothers kidney within the next month. Our hope with this website and our social media accounts is to spread the information that there are options. Not only is Brighton compatible with life, he is full of it.

How can I help?

Prayer. Pray that God gives wisdom to the medical staff and our family as we navigate this journey.
